A Ryde man has been fined £120 after Police found cocaine following a search of his home back in April.
Joseph Gulliver, 40, of Harding Road in Ryde pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled drug (Class A) when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday (25th July).
Liz Miller, prosecuting, told the court that on the 11th April 2023, Gulliver was arrested by Police for an unrelated matter. As a result of the arrest, Police had the right to search the 40-year-old’s home.
During the search, a bag of powder was seized. Once tested it was confirmed to be around 7-8 grams of cocaine.
Gulliver admitted during a Police interview that the drugs were for his own personal use and not for selling/distributing.
The 40-year-old last appeared before the courts back in 2020 for an unrelated matter. His most previous drug possession offence was back in 2016.
Magistrates handed Gulliver – who is currently unemployed but recently worked as a site manager – a £120 fine and ordered him to pay costs of £85 and a £48 victim surcharge fee.

Site manager? Does that mean a person high on coke is overseeing some building project somewhere?
