UPDATED: Fears for the safety of 3 people up to their waists in water on Ryde Sands has sparked a Coastguard response this afternoon (Sunday).
Ryde Inshore Rescue were tasked to launch by Solent Coastguard at 18:46 following reports of 3 people in difficulty on the sands off North Walk. However, prior to launching and the arrival of Ryde Coastguard Initial Response Team, it was relayed that all 3 persons had made it back to shore safely.
Coastguard Officers, including those from Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team are now searching the nearby area for the trio to offer safety advice and ensure they are safe and well.
Ryde’s independent lifeboat station has been stood down.
UPDATE @ 19:55 – The 3 young persons reported to be cut off by the tide have now been located and given safety advice.
