Fears that people may have become trapped underneath a landslide at Yaverland resulted in a callout for police, fire and coastguard earlier this afternoon (Thursday).
Calls reporting a cliff fall at the far end of Yaverland Beach, just below Culver Down, were first made to Police at around 13:53.
It was feared that persons may have been trapped underneath the rubble and as a result resources from HM Coastguard and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were also dispatched to the scene. A Senior Coastal Operations Officer (SCOO) was also present.
Thankfully, after firefighters and coastguard officers had examined the slip, it was confirmed that no casualties were reported.
The location of this latest landslide was just metres from a previous incident back in July.

I always walk my dog along this beach, I always
steer clear of the cliffs, safer by the sea.
Yaverland is very fragile.
Nobody cares.
That’s right
That’s right.
That’s right.
Where would we be without your words of wisdom? Come on nature, do the decent thing!
