Foot passenger services to and from Ryde have been suspended this morning (Monday) due to the adverse weather conditions on the Solent. Hovertravel cancelled their services between Ryde and Southsea at first light, with an update now not expected until at least 11:45. Tickets are being accepted on Wightlink’s car ferry service between Fishbourne-Portsmouth. Now, Wightlink has confirmed that it has had to suspend its Ryde Pier Head-Portsmouth Harbour Fastcat service due to the weather and tides. Transport has been put in place to take customers from Ryde to the car ferry terminal in Fishbourne. UPDATE @ 10:58 – The Cowes Floating Bridge service has been suspended due to the adverse weather conditions. A replacement launch is not operating either, due to the same conditions. The East Cowes-Cowes service is expected to resume around 15:00 this afternoon. UPDATE @ 15:15 – Wightlink’s Fastcat service has now resumed. Due to the ongoing adverse weather, the Floating Bridge is now not expected to return to service until 20:00. The local schools have been informed and a procedure is in place for student travel on the bus services. Hovertravel services remain suspended, with an update expected at 15:45.
