Farnsworth Newsagents in Newport has beaten more than 6,000 stores across the country to win Yodel’s Store of the Quarter award. The store handled over 22,000 parcels in the last quarter to claim the national accolade for outstanding customer support and service to the local community. Independent parcel carrier Yodel’s ‘Store of the Quarter’ awards recognise the highest service levels and customer satisfaction across its Deliver to Yodel Store network of newsagents, convenience stores, petrol stations and supermarkets. The service allows customers to have their parcels delivered to local Out of Home locations for collection at a time that suits them. Celebrating its 50th year of trading this year, Farnsworth Newsagents is run by Sam Thomas and his family, who have operated the store since its opening in 1974. Local driver Phil Best, who regularly delivers and collects hundreds of parcels each day on his route, was also selected for the Driver of Quarter Award, which recognises drivers for their high delivery rates and customer service. Best has worked in partnership with Yodel for almost 12 years, as an employee of Yodel’s delivery partner on the Isle of Wight, Isle of Wight Distribution. Sam Thomas, Farnsworth Newsagents, said:
“We all feel incredibly proud to have been recognised with a Store of the Quarter award. Supporting people in the local area is at the heart of what we do, especially in such a tight knit community, and we’re grateful to each of our customers for helping us to achieve this recognition.”
Liam Rogan, Out Of Home Director at Yodel, has said:
“At Yodel, we’re constantly amazed by the dedication of the over 6,000 stores in our network across the UK, alongside our regional drivers. Farnsworth Newsagents have proven their importance to the local community and have delivered a service that goes above and beyond for customers, delivering efficiency and convenience. “We’re delighted to be awarding them with the Store of the Quarter award for their outstanding work so far this year, as well as commending the efforts of driver Phil Best.”

Surprised they (and other small shops) are still in business.
Overpriced food and drink but the plebs will pay it (then complain they have no money)
lol
Used to go there all the time as a kid when attending Nodehill. Staff have always been wonderful. Well done Team!
A well deserved and earned award. The staff are great. Helpful, friendly and very welcoming. The services they provide, especially the parcel service is excellent. True community champions. We need to support these smaller local businesses and ensure that they will always be around. Good effort Farnsworth team.
This is a local shop for local people, we’ll have no trouble here!
Question? I knew it when Nick Farnworth owned and ran it
Yes so do I, I got sweets etc there when I went to Nodehill Middle School, Good old times and remember Nick and staff were great then.
Me too and the shop he had in upper High Street at Ryde. I guess he eventually sold out and they retained the name of a well established local business.
Nick is still there. Sam is Nicks son.
But his name is Sam Thomas,
Nick is still there but more in the background.
Well done, your a gem
