A fallen tree has come down across Middle Road near Calbourne this morning (Sunday).
The busy Newport to Freshwater road is currently blocked in both directions near to Swainston Manor.
The road is impassable.
Motorists are being turned around with the road set to be formally closed to allow contractors to clear the obstruction.
The closure is to be enforced between the junction with Betty Haunt Lane and the junction with Pump Lane.
Southern Vectis say that their Route 7 buses will divert via Elm Lane, Forest Road and Gunville to reach Newport. This diversion will apply in both directions.
UPDATE @ 09:40 – Middle Road has now re-opened following the removal of the fallen tree.
