A man who brought ‘misery’ to the people of Ryde has been charged with 3 counts of breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), just days after being made subject to the restriction.
50-year-old Jamie Peter Evans was handed the CBO at the tail end of August following more than a year’s worth of dedicated work and persistence by the Ryde Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Police had been investigating as many as 60 offences alleged against Evans from 6th July 2019 to as recent as 16th August this year. The offences include around 20 incidents of anti-social behaviour, including drug use and street drinking, as well as shoplifting, public disorder, assault, burglary, possession of an offensive weapon and breaches of COVID-19 legislation.
Criminal Behaviour Orders, which have replaced ASBOs, are imposed by a court and can restrict where you go, who you associate with, and what activities you are allowed to take part in. Breaching the order is a criminal offence, which can lead to a prison sentence.
It is alleged that Evans entered Victoria Street on 2nd September, John Street on 5th September and Arthur Street on 8th September, which he is prohibited.
The 50-year-old, of no fixed abode, has been remanded in custody to appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court this morning.
UPDATE @ 16:15 – Jamie Evans has been jailed for 12 weeks, receiving a 4 week term of imprisonment for each breach.
Sergeant Sam Warne, from Ryde Neighbourhood Policing team, said:
“We said we would take action against any breaches of this criminal behaviour order, and with the support of the community we have been able to get a fast and positive court result.
“I urge people to continue to contact the police regarding those that cause the most harm in your community so we can take appropriate action.”
Hampshire Constabulary have decided not to release a photograph of Evans.

Put your hand up if you’re surprised……..
They might as well lock him up otherwise he will just go back again and again. All he probably wants is free board and lodgings for a while.
Shame we stopped deportation all those years ago.
Export him to Nab tower permanently!
Needs execution. A drain from cradle to sadly the long time approaching grave, and no doubt adding it’s numerous clones to ensure the misery continues long after it has gone.
Absolutely fantastic news rat boy junkie Jim
What did they expect ?
Well the liberal lefties expect him to be reformed, because in their ‘minds’, if you try the softly-softly approach to utter criminal scum, they are magically transformed into amazing, productive members of society.
Funnily enough, it has never worked. Ever.
He wants to be locked up then he gets free bed and meals and a wage for being a scum bag and making people’s lives a misery…… crime doesn’t pay it bloody does
Across England and Wales, it cost an average of £37,543 a year to keep a prisoner in jail last year. That was up 6.1% from £35,271 in 2016/17.
I bet he is quaking with fear at the sentence he is to get this time…. NOT
12 weeks! I bet he’s bragging about such a meager sentence. He should have been jailed for at least the time he was allowed to ruin the quality of life for others. Scum like him will do only half the time, only to carry on where he left off again. Low life keep being moved here, now it’s time to start moving it off
evans wont be bragging about anything – with his history he will be classed as a “vulnerable prisoner” and will be on what was known as rule 43.
I suspect he may be doing his time in albany ..he has some very old offences that won’t be forgotten by those that do know him even if not reported here.
One assumed the map shown all in PINK lines was the next acquisition by a developer to ruin Ryde further. Just the Manor then of a low life. Fruit sure didn’t roll far from the tree then.
Shooting is to good for vermin like this
Throw away the key
Let’s help this pondlife off the island by escorting him to the ferry and give him a reminder not to come back.
How is anyone supposed to know if someone is not supposed to be here if we can’t see what they look like?
Britain has got to be a country where bad behaviour is rewarded. The only people who really lose out is the decent people who are looked down on as somehow being politically incorrect by the liberal lefties.
