UPDATED: Firefighters, Police and paramedics are attending an incident at Sandford Garage near Godshill tonight (Tuesday), in which a male has sustained ‘traumatic’ injuries.
The casualty, who is laying down in a field beside the petrol filling station, is currently being attended to by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
It is understood a tractor has been involved in a road traffic collision, however the full circumstances of the incident are currently unclear.
Emergency services – including 2 ambulances, an ambulance officer and 2 fire appliances – were called to the scene off the main Shanklin to Godshill road at around 20:10.
UPDATE @ 21:20 – The casualty has been rushed to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport by land ambulance.
Fire crews from Sandown and Shanklin have now stood down from the incident however Police remain on scene. Investigations are underway.
UPDATE @ 22:55 – According to sources, a tractor being cleaned at the garage’s car wash rolled forward and was in collision with a man in his 60s, who was pushed through a hedge.
The gentleman is being cared for at St Mary’s Hospital tonight. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
