UPDATED: Emergency services are attending a road traffic incident in Brading this morning (Friday), which is leading to delays in the area.
One appliance from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, Police and ambulance crews are all in attendance on New Road – the main road from Brading to Sandown – where a white Ford Ka has sustained serious damage following a collision.
A second vehicle – a silver Hyundai – has also been involved in the incident, which occurred at just before 11:25.
Traffic is delayed in the area, including Southern Vectis Route 2 and 3 buses. Motorists should find an alternative route if possible.
UPDATE @ 12:20 – Emergency crews remain on scene this lunchtime, with traffic now tailed back to Carpenters Road heading towards Sandown. Southern Vectis buses are facing delays of up to 30 minutes.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are attending to an elderly female who is complaining of chest pains. No one else has been injured.
An engineer from the Isle of Wight Council has been requested to attend the scene to assess damage to a garden wall.
Recovery of the vehicles has been arranged.
UPDATE @ 14:30 – The incident has been cleared and traffic has returned to normal flow.
A safety cordon has been place around the unsafe, damaged wall.
