A mother and 2 children have escaped from their property without injury following an electrical fire in Brighstone earlier this morning (Monday).
2 fire appliances from Newport and Freshwater were called to Shippards Road at 05:22 when smoke alarms alerted the homeowner to the fire.
Crews used breathing apparatus and hose reels to bring the incident under control. Positive Pressure Ventilation was then used to rid the single storey building of smoke.
It has been confirmed that the fire started in an electrics cupboard.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have now stood down and returned to station.
