UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are attending to an elderly woman who has been knocked down by a car in Newport this lunchtime (Tuesday).
Police are in attendance at the scene on High Street, close to the junction with Mill Street.
A Citroen Picasso has been involved in the collision with the pedestrian, who has sustained a head injury.
Traffic is extremely busy in the area. Motorists are advised to avoid heading into Newport town.
UPDATE @ 13:32 – 1 female has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport by ambulance.
Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
