A new electric vehicle (EV) charging zone will be installed next to a Morrisons supermarket on the Isle of Wight, leading to the loss of 7 parking spaces.
Planners have granted consent to Motor Fuel Group’s application for eight charging bays, four EV chargers, a sub-station enclosure, low voltage panel, meter cabinet and associated works at Morrisons on Newport Road in Lake.
Island Roads made no objection to application 25/00990/FUL:
“Since the proposed development will result in the loss of seven existing car parking spaces, there will be no increase in the number of vehicle movements onto the publicly maintainable highway.
“As such, the proposed development will not have a material impact on the site access or a significant impact on the surrounding highway network.
“The displaced parking demand can be safely accommodated within the adjacent Morrisons car park.”
County Hall has not yet published a decision report on application 25/00990/FUL.

What chance of it happening? There’s no sign of the ones at Newport Morrisons, despite planning aproval months ago….
There is a lack of charging points on the island.
Tesco is the best for charging points.
The island have a long way to go reaching net zero.
