Community groups across The Bay are set to join forces later this month as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean initiative.
The Great Bay Wide Litter Pick will take place on Saturday 22nd March and will see Sandown & Shanklin Green Town Volunteers and The Bays Town & Parish Councils join forces to organise a litter pick from Shanklin Old Village to Yaverland. The litter pick is open to anyone who would like to take part and will have three starting points across The Bay.
Those wishing to take part should meet at Sandown Library, Lake Common or Vernon Meadow Car Park ready for a 10:00 start.
At each starting location safety advice will be available along with rubbish sacks and a limited number of litter pickers available to borrow – those taking part are asked to bring their own gloves if possible.
All 3 litter picks will end at Lake Cliff Gardens at approximately 12:30 with light refreshments.
Organiser Ben Holbrook from The Bay Place Plan steering team said:
“As we start to take action from the place plan, we are keen to get community groups and residents from across The Bay working together on some quick wins. A simple litter pick will improve the environment we all live in and give our towns a good spring clean at the same time.”

These volunteers do a great job.
Makes one wonder why we bother paying
Council tax.
Imagine going to the barbers and cutting your
own hair.
These volunteers are doing what we pay the
council to do, give them a council tax rebate
for their hard work.
