A rock fall on a main road through Ventnor has wiped out a traffic light and left debris scattered across the carriageway this morning (Friday). The incident has occurred at the junction of Gills Cliff Road and Castle Road, where permanent 3-way lights control the flow of traffic through a narrowing. It’s understood the fall happened at around 04:00. No one has been injured but the fall has taken out a secondary traffic light head. Island Roads have been made aware of the situation. Southern Vectis says that Route 6 buses are diverting from Whitwell Road and Gills Cliff Road onto Ocean View Road, Mitchell Avenue and Spring Hill into Ventnor Town. The diversion is operating in both directions.
