A man and a woman who were arrested following an armed police incident in Sandown on Friday have been released without charge.
5 heavily-armed police officers surrounded a residential property on Downsview at around 16:00 on Friday afternoon, as first reported by Island Echo. The incident concluded around 3 hours later and prompted a forensic investigation the following morning.
Hampshire Constabulary said a handgun was recovered.
It has been confirmed that a 44-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, has been released from custody without charge. He remains under Police investigation.
Meanwhile a 47-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of supply of a Class B drug has also been released without charge. She will face no further action.
