Quarr Abbey Art Gallery is currently hosting a substantial collection of distinctive contemporary ceramic sculptures and wall panels, and fresh and vibrant abstract oil-painted wall art by Isle of Wight artist, Andrew Dowden.
Andrew was inspired to take up ceramics while watching a bowl being thrown on a wheel during research for the Isle of Wight pottery book: A Century of Ceramics.
Inspiration for his diverse designs comes from many sources including archaeology, architecture, engineering, machinery, nature and history.
Design, form, and surface texture are Andrew’s main areas of interest and are more important than function.
Andrew will be in attendance throughout the show and will be happy to chat about his work. A percentage of all exhibition sales goes to Quarr Abbey.
Open from 10:00 to 16:30, the show currently finishes on Tuesday 6th September.
