A dispersal order under Section 34 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 has been authorised for Newport town centre, meaning troublesome teens can be kicked out of the area should trouble arise this Halloween.
The dispersal zone covers the whole of the town centre which includes the bus station, Church Litten and the High Street shops.
It was authorised at 20:00 last night (Sunday) and will run for 36 hours until 08:00 tomorrow morning (Tuesday).
The dispersal order enables police to deal with any issues of anti-social behaviour in the directed area more effectively and gives officers the power to order a person to leave the area with no return within the specified time period.
Those who refuse to comply with the order are committing a criminal offence and are liable for arrest.
Individuals who are aged under 16 will be taken be to their home addresses, and follow-up work will be carried out with parents.
Anyone with information about anti-social behaviour is asked to contact Police on 101. If a crime is in progress, call 999.

They do, and have done for many many years. But in the last 20 years governments have instead of telling the police to enforce existing laws just pass ‘virtue signaling’ laws to make it like they are doing something.
For example, the ‘just stop oil’ people could be stopped today. But instead of investing in a police force the government wants to pass a law where you can put people under house arrest with a tag without any criminal prosecution. If a police officer don’t like you they can tag you and lock you in your house.

It’s all about looking like you are dealing with problems than with actually dealing with them.
Prime example is the headline grabbing plan to ship migrants off to Rwanda. Hasn’t worked, was never going to work but it makes them look like they are doing something.
So it’s ok for Ryde,Cowes and other towns etc to put up with these thug’s. Why is this not Island Wide and 365days a year ?. Phone 101? If only they would answer and show interest if you get through.

A police force that release the fort Victoria rapist on CPS orders (and does not argue back) as he was deemed not a threat to the public but proactive when it comes to policing kids on Halloween. God forbid any actual crime happens because we all know they release rapists and turn up and come back to find bodies with knives in them because they cant fight ACTUAL crime.
It’s not the trick or treating kids they are after. They are trying to protect them and deal with the toe rags that blight Newport town centre every night and day. Hopefully a few of the idiots will be arrested and charged.
