A beach in the village of Binstead has been cordoned off this afternoon (Monday) following the discovery of an unexploded pyrotechnic device.
HM Coastguard first received reports of a suspected Man Overboard light and smoke signal unit on Players Beach, near Binstead, shortly after 13:00 this afternoon.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team was called to the scene and has since set up a cordon around the object.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team has been contacted but it is unclear as to how long it will be until the incident is resolved.
