A tea room in Ryde has been slapped with the worst possible food hygiene rating after inspectors found mouldy bread, out-of-date food and a poor standard of hygiene throughout. The Stable Tea Room off Newport Street/High Street has been awarded a 0 by the Isle of Wight Council’s Environmental Health team following an inspection at the beginning of March. It was found that the general standard of hygiene was poor and the kitchen required a full deep clean, with saw the business remaining closed for 2 days for urgent cleaning to take place. Among the worst things found by inspectors included BBQ chicken that was 4 days out of date, mouldy bread in a storage cupboard and unwrapped, raw onions stored in a utility drawer next to a mobile phone and other items. Many areas of the premises were found to be dirty, including the sandwich toaster, the inside of the fridges and the extraction system. Water was seen dripping from the ceiling and the metalwork behind the plaster was rusty. Furthermore, inspectors found that food was stored in disarray with open food piled on top of each other, and that food stored in the fridges was uncovered and contaminated. A wooden roller had pieces of cheese stuck to it despite having been cleaned. The wash hand basin situated in the kitchen was obstructed from use as items were stored within the basin and the temperature probe was not being sanitised before/after each measurement. However, it was noted in the inspector’s report that on a revisit on 7th March, a number of issues had been resolved. Won’t ever eat there, disgusting!
It should have been closed down immediately.
Shut them down permanently no ifs or buts
Selling dangerous products to general public.
I blame the chef in all these cases, nobody would work willingly in such conditions, a mobile with onions what on earth…..
Why don’t we name and shame the chef every time, what if they are skipping from job to job?
Cheap cream teas I’m sure. Where are they?
Close the place down
Filthy establishments should not be allowed to trade
Too be honest are there many clean eateries on the island.
Walked past The Alamo today along the Esplanade Ryde &
saw a female cook outside smoking a roll up, she threw it on the
ground outside still alight & went back inside.
Walked past Subway & a Chap who prepares the Subs was
outside smoking.
Same applies to Premier Inn Sandown & the
Boardwalk cafe Sandown.
Some people don’t mind being served by such persons or
having their food cooked by such persons.
Some of us don’t, especially the prices they charge.
Cheaper to eat at home, much cleaner & healthier
