A cyclist has been taken to the hospital after a serious incident along one of the Isle of Wight’s most notorious roads.
The incident, where 2 cyclists fell off their bikes, took place at around 14:40 this afternoon (Saturday), just after Isle of Pearl, towards Freshwater.
Officers from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary were on scene, as well as a critical care paramedic and ambulance, who were treating an injured woman.
Island Echo understands that there were no life-threatening injuries, with only one of the two patients going to receive medical attention.
It is unclear at this time whether the pair were hit off their bikes.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has been contacted for a statement.

Two lycra clad roadies, probably taking up the whole road, while thinking they are in the tour de france.
Islandwide CCTV is needed to see what is going on.
I cannot believe in the year 2026 cycle lanes on the island
are scarce.
We are going into a new world order where cycling
and walking is the future.
I cannot believe how many roads have UNSAFE
dips and edges along them, today I was driving to
Briddlesford Farm for lunch and when driving
from Havenstreet to the junction of Briddlesford Road
on the left hand side of the road there are many visible
dangerous dips that need filling in.
The island needs a man and a van with various materials
on board driving round the island and make such areas
safe.
It would be money well spent and create a job for
someone.

Once a Numpty always a Numpty!
Do you know for definite that they were racing?
Of course not it’s the Isle of Wight assuming DNA at work again!.
Do you know definitely that they were racing?
I drove past as the road was still open it was 1 woman on a stretcher sat up with a dressing on her knee, didn’t see anything else!
More reason for a cycle track. Why oh why isn’t there one? It’s a well-known accident spot & drivers have always raced along the mili road, looking at the views, not other vehicles.
The numpties running the island encourage cyclists
to visit the island, BUT WHERE ARE THE CYCLE LAKES
FOR THEM?
The Military Road should have a cycle lane all the way
from Blackgang to Freshwater.
I agree with most of the comments, sensible ones anyway. Cyclists are the bane of road users, since the law changed and you can’t clip the fuckers into the hedge anymore, they waft along full of look at my Lycra arse, my knotty calf’s, my right to hold up traffic, because I am one pedal at a time saving the planet. And should be allowed to take up all one carriage way when out with my cycling friends, every right to do it, wobble where I like and not have insurance or any certification to be on a road.
Your not saving the planet, your stroking your ego. Tho mainly you are just a selfish cunt
