cyclistcowesA cyclist has this morning (Saturday) collided with a shopfront in Cowes, smashing through glass.

Emergency services were called to the scene at the junction of Market Hill and the High Street in the town shortly before 09:15 following reports of a cyclist having sustained injuries after colliding with a building.

A Rapid Response Paramedic and an ambulance crew from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were sent to the scene, where it was discovered the cyclist had smashed head first through the glass windows of the former Post Office building at the bottom of a steep hill.

cyclistcowes2The male has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport for a check up, having escaped any serious injuries.

Police also attended the incident, which has now been cleared.
