UPDATED: CRITICAL MEDICAL SITUATION SEES AIR AMBULANCE CALLED TO HUNNYHILL

The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has landed in Newport this lunchtime (Sunday) in response to a critical medical emergency on Hunnyhill. The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has a critical care paramedic and an ambulance crew on scene at a residential address near Hookes Way. The air ambulance has landed in a field near Worsley Road, with onboard medics now tending to the poorly patient, alongside Isle of Wight-based colleagues. Police are also in attendance. UPDATE @ 13:15 – The air ambulance has relocated to the helipad at St Mary’s Hospital, just a stone’s throw from the scene of the incident. UPDATE @ 17:24 – Police have confirmed that officers were called to Hunnyhill at 12:29 over concerns for the welfare of a woman in her 40s. Island Echo understands the woman has been transferred to Intensive Care and has been placed into an induced coma.
