A Grade II-listed red telephone box has been destroyed as a result of a 2-car crash that has occurred in Chale this evening (Saturday).
The incident has occurred on Military Road just outside of the Church of St Andrew.
A 2-vehicle crash involving a BMW and a Peugeot has forced the German motor into the K6 model telephone box, its cast iron structure destroyed as a result of the impact.
Officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were called to the the scene just after 19:00 and are working to clear the antique debris from the road.
Island Echo understands that no serious injuries have been sustained, those involved are free from the stricken vehicles.
The road is currently closed whilst recovery is arranged.
How? How? How? Do these people drive with their eyes closed? Did they get breathalysed as must of been drunk or high? They should now pay for another grade 2 listed phone box, it did nothing to them, stupid idiots!!

It looks like a lot of damage on both cars for a 30 mile zone.. but that’s probably the issue.
It is a 40mph part of the road, try looking at the picture again that might give you a clue and if you drive i suggest getting an eye test before getting behind the wheel again.

‘I always’. For the record, I have an unblemished driving record of 30 years plus, and am perfectly capable of observing speed signs, though I don’t always zoom in on photos in news articles to prove people wrong.
You do need an eye test if can’t see that without zooming in .

I’m correct it was a dangerously parked car that had started to park there regularly in last few weeks and get voted down. Not as easy as you might think.BT got rid of all the red K6 boxes as they were recovered. To my knowledge they do not hold replacement boxes. There is a company called Unicorn Kiosks who could probably supply an oven ready box or buy one back from the people who bought tem for a nominal sum and do that one up.
I think it’s obvious that the sympathy will be mostly directed towards the iconic telephone box that was clearly the innocent bystander throughout this whole episode. The only good things I can see is that the occupants are seemingly alright and that the box itself wasn’t occupied at the time these two cars came along and flattened it.
Those dinosaurs down there are always going walkabout and scaring unsuspecting motorists

Anything to do with a vehicle parked outside a house opposite?. This parked vehicle is the cause of many a near miss forcing traffic heading towards Freshwater into path of on coming vehicles. Thought against law to park this close to a junction on main road?.

The standard of driving on the island is shocking nowadays. People living here now & holiday makers alike cannot cope with our narrower roads with no central reservation to separate oncoming traffic. The amount of people I follow with their foot almost constantly on the brake at the sight of an oncoming vehicle is a joke. Two large vehicles can pass each other with ease, but when that large oncoming vehicle approaches the person in their 23 plate family saloon, on come the brakes! Add darkness to this task & anxiety goes through the roof!! Driving onto their driveways & reversing out on to the road is another accident waiting to happen. I guess in their eyes, there isn’t as much to hit when reversing onto a main road!!!
