UPDATED: Motorists are facing significant delays between Newport and Cowes this evening (Wednesday) as a result of a 2-car road traffic collision near the prisons.
A red Citroen C3 has crashed into the rear of a grey Nissan 4×4 on Parkhurst Road, resulting in traffic tailbacks.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has 2 ambulances on scene.
Police are also in attendance at the incident.
UPDATE @ 18:27 – An elderly woman in her 80s is being treated for a neck complaint.
Traffic remains heavy in the area as the vehicles are recovered.
