A crash involving a car and a motorcycle is causing significant delays on the main route through Wootton this afternoon (Monday).
Emergency service personnel were first called to Lushington Hill at around 14:45 following reports of a multi-vehicle collision.
At the scene, near the junction with Park Road, an Audi and a motorcycle have collided.
A single casualty has been blue-lighted to St Mary’s Hospital. The land ambulance was accompanied by a Critical Care Paramedic and Operational Commander.
Traffic in the area is very heavy due to the closure of the nearby Park Road.
Lushington Hill is currently closed to traffic leaving Wootton but remains open to those coming from Racecourse.
UPDATE @ 15:45 – Lushington Hill is expected to remain partially-closed for a while whilst investigations take place and recovery of the involved vehicles is arranged.
UPDATE @ 16:10 – Island Echo understands the Thames Valley Air Ambulance has been scrambled to the helipad at St Mary’s Hospital, with a view to airlifting directly to the mainland, due to the severity of the motorcyclist’s injuries.
UPDATE @ 16:50 – The incident has been cleared and Lushington Hill has since reopened.
I don’t know what it is about Audi drivers
but they always seem to be speeding!
I wonder if this was the cause.
