Cowes RNLI was tasked to assist a yacht while out on their first permitted exercises since the coronavirus lockdown this afternoon (Saturday).
Solent Coastguard requested the volunteer crew to attend a yacht that had a jammed jib.
The tasking was received at 12:52 having been spotted and reported to HM Coastguard by another vessel in the area.
Unfortunately, further problems arose when the 2 men who were on board the casualty vessel discovered they were unable to start their engines.
Once the jib issue was rectified, the lifeboat towed the yachted into a mooring at Beaulieu River on the mainland.
Crews returned to their station in Cowes at 15:15.
In other news… Yarmouth RNLI was tasked to reports of different Yacht in difficulty south of the Island and Bembridge RNLI had a double shout to a Yacht and 2 paddleboarders in difficulty.
