Cowes RNLI has been involved in a search of the Solent this morning (Saturday) in response to a discovery made by a fishing vessel.
Solent Coastguard was alerted at around 06:20 when a paddleboard was found floating in the Western Solent to the north of Thorness, between Newtown and Cowes.
Volunteer crew members were requested to man the lifeboat at just before 09:00 in order to carry out a search of the local area to rule out any persons being in difficulty.
The origins of the board were soon established when the owner made contact with the Coastguard.
With nothing untoward found, the lifeboat was stood down from the search by around 10:40.
