Cowes RNLI Lifeboat was tasked to assist The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team last night (Wednesday) in investigating a small upturned dinghy on the beach at Thorness Bay.
The lifeboat crew were already out on the water for training when the call came in at just before 20:00.
Having safely navigated to the remote location near Gurnard in choppy sea conditions, the volunteer lifeboat crew got the dinghy to the beach. Once on dry land RNLI members joined Coastguard officers from The Needles in emptying the boat.
It was quickly established that the dinghy had been drifting and no person or persons were believed to be difficulty.
