Cowes Fringe has donated £5,000 to Mountbatten Isle of Wight, raised through this year’s festival and a special fundraising gala held at Commodore’s House last month.
The evening, on Saturday 25th May, featured a standout performance of Sinatra Raw.
The cheque was presented by Cowes Fringe Founder, Sara Blackwell, who said:
“I’m absolutely overwhelmed and thrilled to present £5,000 to Mountbatten on behalf of Cowes Fringe. In just our third year, it means so much to the entire team to be able to contribute to a charity so vital to our Island community.
“Mountbatten’s compassionate work touches so many of our lives, and we’re incredibly proud to support their mission.”
Nigel Hartley, CEO of Mountbatten Isle of Wight, has said:
“Mountbatten Isle of Wight is hugely grateful to the organisers of Cowes Fringe for their incredible donation – one that will help us continue to deliver vital end-of-life care 24/7, in homes, in hospital, and in our inpatient unit.
“We hope the eclectic acts and the Fringe-goers had as enjoyable a time as we did. Thank you for your support. In challenging times, it means so much to us and the Islanders we care for.”

The funds were raised through a variety of community-driven efforts. Special mention has been given to Nick Bonham for his outstanding support, and to Mark’s Shed, where donation buckets overflowed with generous contributions. Sunflower merchandise also proved popular, and extra funds were received via the ticket platform’s ‘donate here’ button.
A number of exclusive prizes helped boost donations, including:
- 4 tickets to Quadrophenia from The Mayflower
- 2 VIP tickets for Just for One Day and a hotel stay in London from Jamie Wilson Productions
- A signed and framed print of the England vs Australia 1980 Centenary Test Match at Lords, featuring 11 England cricket captains
- A couture selection of exclusive hair products
- A 6-person sauna experience at SloMo (Tapnell Farm), courtesy of Rob da Bank
- A signed Arsenal shirt from the 2020 FA Cup Final vs Chelsea
- 2 tickets to Friends: The Musical at Southampton Mayflower Theatre from Mark Goucher Productions
