An Isle of Wight couple have completed a 125-mile charity walk in aid of local disability charity John’s Club.
43-year-old Jo Plater and her 42-year-old husband Steve, completed the gruelling 125-mile trek having set off from the John’s Club base at Oakfield Football Club on Monday (26th May).
The pair braved the ever-changing weather conditions throughout the walk with periods of intense sunshine followed by battering winds and driving rain.
The couple completed ‘Walk the Week’ in a bid to save the club, which has been supporting people with disabilities for nearly 30 years. It was last month that Island Echo first reported on the challenges at John’s Club who are at risk of closing after running out of funds.
Ahead of the challenge, Jo and Steve said:
“We all have different struggles in life, mental health hits so many of us at some point and loneliness can be one of the hardest things in life. Johns club provides something so simple but life saving to many.”
