The Alliance Administration has held the reigns of the Isle of Wight Council for its 2nd year now, with its leader admitting it was a very difficult year for everyone.
Now, in week 103 of her leadership, Councillor Lora Peacey-Wilcox has reflected on the year the Council has had – at the same time a restructure of senior positions has been announced.
Speaking at the full council meeting on Wednesday evening, Cllr Peacey-Wilcox said the Council has constantly strived to find ways of doing things differently, as funding pressures continue.
1 way of saving money the Council agreed in its budget, was a rehaul of the authority. Councillor Peacey-Wilcox said the council is now undergoing the long overdue transformational change and was very aware of the impact it would have on staff. She said the burden does not solely fall onto the officers, but also on cabinet members.
Councillor Peacey-Wilcox announced a restructure of the cabinet as it takes onboard responsibility for ‘financial implications’. She thanked councillors who have worked with the administration in positions across the council and hoped it could continue.
In recent weeks, the Alliance has lost 4 members — who have jumped ship to join over groups — and had a cabinet member of a crucial portfolio stand down.

Basically because the island does not have a council with radical new ideas nothing will change. At the moment you can put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig.
I placed a comment on here earlier and it has vanished I wonder why? Basically what I said was that this alliance lot should resign as they are not up to the job. The last time they ran the council they bottled it because they are not up to the job. All councillors should show some solidarity with the taxpayer in these times and.take a cut of 50 percent of their allowances until the end of this.term of the.council.Councillors allowances amount to around half a million pounds per annum or is far too much for what they do, half of that could.do much good for island causes. Don’t hold.your.nreath.
Wow only 103 weeks ..seems a lot longer when will this nightmare administration be over ..
Let’s face it this council is finished, and good riddance, how can it possibly function, it barely did anyway before the mass exodus of so called public servants. This council is full of AI, and I don’t mean artifical intelligence either, some intelligence would be good, but in this case AI is for Absolute Idiocy. Enough said. Failing council, failed for the Island.
I’m sure she was heard to say “It’s been a bit of a sh!t show really.”
Kiss of death this article. Back to playing musical chairs.
