The Isle of Wight Council has blasted a recent spate of vandalism that has left parks and play areas across the Isle of Wight damaged, affecting the enjoyment of these valued community spaces for local families.
As previously reported by Island Echo, graffiti and damage to trees have been reported in Church Litten Park in Newport.
There has also been damage at Arctic Park in Cowes.
In Ventnor, a swing set at Seabreeze Park has also been destroyed.
Addressing the recent damage, the local authority has said:
“This senseless vandalism not only harms our shared public spaces but also impacts the enjoyment of the parks and play areas for the whole community”.
The incidents have been reported to the Police and investigations are underway. The Council is working closely with officers to identify those responsible.
Anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious or who has information that could help is urged to contact Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary on 101.
A Council spokesperson has added:
“Community support is vital to protect and preserve the Isle of Wight’s green spaces for everyone to enjoy”.
This what happens when low life snort/swill ferril brats are allowed to do as they like, protected by do gooder hand wringers, instead of putting them on curfews and tagging them
Youngsters seem to be exempt from the law in
2025 Britain.

The island needs more CCTV, also why not employ
security patrols.
It will also create more much needed employment on the
island.
There is no effective deterrent.
such disobedience threatens the social order and they need punishing,
i suggest, cctv to catch them, then implement stocks, and a pillory with a ready supply of old tomatoes. There is also ready wrapped dog poo everywhere to use. Leave them in there for a 24hrs and they won’t repeat offend.
Youth on the island seem very young for their age. I’m surprised to see groups of older youths running round the streets causing trouble & behaving like feral twelve year olds. You wonder why they are so mentally stunted in their outlook that they want to destroy
Bring back the Birch and give them 20 whacks.
