Disgraceful vandalism to trees at Church Litten Park in Newport has come under fire from upset locals, with large sections of bark stripped and graffiti sprayed on trunks.
A Norway maple has had its bark removed, with the name ‘Zoe’ carved into the exposed wood.
A silver birch in the same area has also been targeted, with its bark peeled off and spray-painted.
It is understood that the Isle of Wight Council is aware of the damage, which is thought to have taken place yesterday (Monday).

It’s about time decent CCTV was erected to stop such
nonsense happening.
Personally I would erect high fencing around Church Litten
and have 2 ways in.
Install camera’s at both ends to see who goes in and
who goes out.
Also to STOP Numpty’s wandering around at night, lock the
gates at 10pm, earlier in the winter months
Job done.
And guard towers put on the corners, and if caught misbehaving thrown in the Cooler
Perhaps this may be a good time to present these photographs accompanied by a 15 minute talk at just about every single school on the island, and invite discussion.. making youngsters aware of their environment and just why we need to protect and enhance our beautiful planet.
