Abbey Brass is about to launch its concert season with a debut performance at Newport Minster next month.
The 25-strong brass band presents its first concert of the year at the recently restored Minster in St Thomas’ Square on Saturday 10th May at 19:30.
Band chairman Andy Croucher said the band had been rehearsing for the new season since January and was looking forward to entertaining audiences again. He said:
“We have been working hard on developing a complete new programme of music including some pieces arranged by our musical director Phillip Littlemore.
“We are delighted to start the season in the beautiful setting on Newport Minster. It is a varied programme and includes soloists from within the band. I’m sure there is something for everyone. Our finale – Wagner’s rousing Procession to the Minster – has been specifically chosen to reflect the beautiful Minster setting,”
The band’s concert season also includes performances at Rylstone Gardens, Shanklin on 17th June (20:00) and 31st August 31 (15:00) and Wootton Methodist Church on 17th September (19:30).
Admission to all is concerts is free, with retiring collections.
