Yet more technical issues have resulted in early morning cancellations on Red Funnel’s hi-speed Red Jet service this morning (Wednesday). Commuters and other passengers arrived for the 07:15 sailing from West Cowes to find that it had been cancelled, without any prior warning. It’s understood the 06:40 failed to operate from Southampton too. Now, Red Funnel has confirmed that the 07:50 from Southampton and the 08:25 from West Cowes have also been pulled. It’s said that engineers are working to resolve the issue, but no information has been given as to what the exact problem is. A revised timetable is also set to be in operation on Friday and Saturdya as a result of essential maintenance being completed on Red Jet 6, as previously reported by Island Echo. Many Islanders fear that a near-constant 1-craft service, or revised timetable, will become the norm following the news that Red Funnel is selling Red Jet 4, reducing the service to a 2-craft operation.
