Aspire’s Community Pantry will be heading to the seaside town of Shanklin on a weekly basis from next week (Monday 27th January).
People are invited to Shanklin United Reformed Church between 10:30 and 12:00 where, once registered, they are entitled to £15 of items for £5, plus free refreshments.
The church – located on High Street – also runs a free warm space ‘The Well’ every Wednesday from 11:00 – 13:00.
Great idea for people in need, shame that the Government
doesn’t help those struggling.
It does.
The UK benefits system is very generous. So much so that people are risking their lives on a daily basis to get here to claim it.
The benefits system is not ‘generous’; if it was most people would be able to afford to eat, not have to go cap in hand to a charity. And of those risking their lives…they are running from political regimes which threaten their very existence, not for the minimal dole money. You seriously think someone would travel thousands of miles, mainly on foot and risk drowning in freezing seas just because they’d heard that someone was giving away a hundred quid a week? Most of them have degrees and go on to contribute more than you ever could to society with your utterly blinkered diatribe.
