Community Murals Isle of Wight say it is ‘incredibly disappointing’ that one of their Isle of Wight projects has been defaced with an ‘unsightly tag’.
The mural – located on the corner of Green Street and High Street – was completed back in April 2024 and brought some colour and light to an area of the town needing a little bit of TLC.
Those behind the community-focused artwork wishes for everyone to stand together as a community to value and protect public art.
A spokesperson for Community Murals Isle of Wight has said:
“Since its completion, we’ve received so much positive feedback from the public—locals and visitors alike have expressed how much they love this piece and how it adds character and warmth to the community. It’s heart-breaking to see something so cherished disrespected in this way.
“We’re hoping to restore the mural as soon as possible, and we’ll keep you updated. In the meantime, if anyone saw anything or has information, please don’t hesitate to reach out.”
They just can’t leave anything alone can they? Bloody low life waste of space scum
I would bang them up, might seem a bit harsh, but anyone
touching such works of art will never be any good for
society.
It’s about time the island invested in CCTV
These Numpty’s make me sick, can’t people
leave anything alone.
Is there no CCTV, catch them and fine them
heavily.
