A road traffic collision caused significant delays on a major diversion route earlier this morning (Monday).
The incident took place at the junction of Rolls Hill Road and Rew Street, at around 10:00.
At the scene, a white Kia Picanto suffered heavy front-end damage resulting in the front bumper being cleanly ripped off.
The crash comes on the first day of the one-way closure of Horsebridge Hill between Newport and Cowes. The 6-mile diversion route pushes cars along Forest Road, Whitehouse Road, Rolls Hill Road and Pallance Road into Cowes.
The roadworks are to facilitate the building of a large scale housing development at the bottom of Horsebridge Hill.
Motorists in the area were significantly delayed by the incident, but traffic has now returned to normal.
LOL, this will be a daily occurrence as motorists leave themselves barely any extra time for the additional 6 miles on their journey. I’d hate to live or work in that area, it’s going to be a horrible to months.
From what I see on a daily basis I don’t know how
people passed their driving test.
(Maybe they didn’t )
This is’nt going to work who bloody signed this shit off first day and a total fuck up i went through at 7am and its crap..
Queues from the forest road garden center to get into cowes ..1/2 to hour trip this can’t be allowed to happen, surely someone has to put a stop to this…climate eco bullshit at its finest..why didn’t they do a short term road where the wide pavement is and grass area until this bollocks was finished.Going to be more crashes massive delays cars burning more fuel/pollution what wankers allowed this, massively long commute times huge lorries all going along country roads not fit for it..
Whoever the INFANTS are at Island Roads the Council and Planning, could they please be supervised by preferably, an educated adult who would have the foresight of seeing such a disaster.
Not only do they start work on many roads which are already causing problems all over the Island but build an estate on one of the most busiest roads on the Island with only one way out.
Now I suppose the floating Bridge will go out of service for “routine maintenance” just to add to the crisis.
What a badly run place the Island is now.
Shame on you whoever you people are.
Its a disgrace.
I am not too sure who runs the island
is it Mickey or Minnie Mouse
Because the island is Donald Ducked!!
Ah, the beautiful island.
Heads out of arses time people, it no longer is.
We have morons telling the intelligent peasants how to live, and to be thankful for their idiot plans and visions.
I wonder how much cultural diversity, and do remember, its our strength, will be housed on that new estate, built on a green field site.
But it’s OK because somewhere in the massaged figures it’s all carbon neutral in five years…..B.S
