Brading Town Reserves secured the Combination 1 title with an emphatic victory over Shanklin Reserves at Vicarage Lane yesterday afternoon (Saturday 18th April).
There was little doubt about the outcome as the Romans produced a dominant, front-foot display to secure the title.
It took just 54 seconds for Isaac Glynn to open the scoring, spotting the goalkeeper off his line and lifting a superb 30-yard effort into the net (1-0). Brading kept the pressure on and were rewarded again on 16 minutes when Jamie Linington met a corner with a well-struck volley (2-0).
Connor Coburn added a 3rd on 23 minutes with a neat finish into the far corner (3-0), and Glynn soon had his 2nd of the afternoon to complete his brace (4-0). Coburn struck again before the interval after more good work from Linington to send Brading into the break firmly in control (5-0).
Half Time: Brading Town Reserves 5-0 Shanklin Reserves
The second half followed a similar pattern. Leo Jones added a 6th on 55 minutes after being set up by Linington, and Coburn completed his hat-trick on 61 minutes with a simple finish at the back post (7-0) – his 3rd of a 4-goal haul.

On 66 minutes, goalkeeper Charlie King stepped up to convert a penalty after Coburn had been fouled, calmly making it 8-0. Liam Reynolds added the 9th on 75 minutes with a composed finish.
Shanklin kept going and found a reply on 76 minutes when Toby Daniel struck the crossbar and Dylan Hailes reacted quickest (9-1).
Coburn added his 4th on 82 minutes (10-1), substitute Brad Gamble made it 11-1 on 88 minutes, and Reynolds wrapped things up 2 minutes from time with his 2nd of the afternoon to complete his brace (12-1).
