Coastguard Rescue Teams from Ventnor and The Needles were called to Yaverland earlier this evening (Monday) to reports of a person over the cliff.
Solent Coastguard mobilised both teams at 19:12 following reports of a person in need of assistance near to Sandown Bay Holiday Centre.
Once on scene it transpired the casualty was in fact on the coastal path near to Red Cliff.
The casualty was placed onto a stretcher and carried down back to the holiday camp to the awaiting ambulance.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service have since conveyed the injured person to St Mary’s Hospital.
