UPDATE: HM Coastguard, Police and Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat are all involved in an ongoing search between Sandown and Shanklin this evening (Monday).
The independent lifeboat is currently conducting a shoreline search down towards Luccombe Chine, whilst Coastguard teams conduct a search on land.
Police are also in attendance in the 2 towns.
It is thought the emergency services are searching for a missing man, but further information is currently unavailable.
UPDATE @ 19:50 – The National Police Air Service helicopter is now circling the skies above Shanklin as the search continues. Multiple Police vehicles are also reported to be in attendance near to Shanklin Train Station.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team are preparing to descend the cliff edge at Culver Down to rule out any possibilities, whilst Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team continue to search the other side of Sandown Bay.
UPDATE @ 20:40 – The search has now been stood down. It is understood the male has been successfully located.
Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team, Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team, Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat and Police are now returning to station.
