The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and HM Coastguard have responded to reports of a sinking boat on the River Medina in Newport this evening (Friday).
It is the second time in just over a week that emergency services have been called to the 63m wooden trawler, which is now used as a houseboat.
The alert was raised at just after 17:00, with fears that the elderly couple living on the boat were on board.
Police, fire, coastguard and ambulance crews responded to the scene – which is within the Festival site – however thankfully the occupants did not require rescuing.
Emergency services have now stood down from the incident, deeming it unviable to successfully pump the tidal waters out of the damaged boat.
