Vecta House Care Home was transformed into a winter wonderland last week as they hosted their annual Christmas Lights Switch-On ceremony.
The event was a heartwarming affair, bringing together residents, their loved ones, and the local community. The highlight of the evening was a delightful performance by the talented children of Summerfields Primary School, who filled the air with festive cheer through their beautiful Christmas carols.
As the children concluded their performance, a special visitor arrived – Santa Claus himself! The children were overjoyed to see him and couldn’t contain their excitement. One young boy even described the experience as “magical.”
The festivities continued outdoors, where everyone gathered for the much-anticipated moment: the Christmas lights switch-on. Led by Santa, the countdown began, and as the lights illuminated the building, a wave of joy swept through the crowd.
Following the switch-on, residents and guests had the opportunity to take photos with Santa, creating lasting memories of the special occasion. The evening concluded with a warm and inviting atmosphere indoors, where delicious hot chocolate and mince pies were served.
Santa continued to spread Christmas cheer by visiting residents in their rooms, offering festive greetings and spreading joy.
Tanya Everson, Lifestyle Leader at Vecta House, expressed her delight at the event:
“It’s always a magical time of year here at Vecta House, and we strive to make it as special as possible for all our residents. We’re incredibly proud of the strong connection we’ve built with the local community, especially Summerfields Primary School and the Isle of Wight Round Table, who have been instrumental in making this event truly extraordinary.”
