A number of charity collection boxes have been stolen from a shop in Ventnor during an early morning break-in – the second time the shop has been vandalised and burgled this year.
The Premier Express convenience store on the High Street was smashed into at around 03:00 this morning (Tuesday) when an unknown male suspect used a hammer to damage both entrance doors and a window before helping himself to at least 3 money boxes, thought to be for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice, Ventnor Boxing Club and another local charity.
Police are investigating the incident, which comes just weeks after a man was hospitalised trying to prevent the same shop being ransacked.
