Coastguard Rescue Officers from The Needles and Ventnor were called into action to help transfer a casualty to an awaiting ambulance at Tennyson Down yesterday afternoon (Thursday).
Solent Coastguard mobilised the 2 teams at just gone 14:20 following a request for assistance from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
The individual – believed to be a man – was located at the western end of the remote downland before being placed onto a stretcher and carried over a quarter of a mile to the ambulance for onward conveyance to St Mary’s Hospital.
HM Coastguard stood down from the incident at 15:38.
