Firefighters are tackling a vehicle fire on a country lane in Ashey this lunchtime (Friday).
A single fire appliance from Ryde was first called to the scene on Harding Shute at around noon, following reports of a Mini well alight.
At the scene, firefighters – equipped with breathing apparatus – have brought the flames under control using a hose reel jet, though white smoke remains billowing into the sky.
Island Echo understands that the vehicle was parked at the time the fire broke out. No Paramedics or Police have been called to the scene.
Harding Shute is currently blocked whilst firefighters continue to dampen down the charred remains.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being.
well well well..bit dubious…
Of course it was parked, not going to set fire to it in motion are they.
Islandwide CCTV would reveal all.
With the rollout of all the fibre on the island
should be easy to place Camera’s.
That ‘white smoke’ was almost certainly steam.
