Police, paramedics and firefighters are on scene at a 2-vehicle collision in Ryde tonight (Sunday), in which a car has come to rest on its side.
The incident has occurred at the crossroads junction of Monkton Street and Park Road and has seen a Suzuki Carry van collide with a VW Up.
The occupants of both vehicles have escaped any serious injury – despite the Up coming to a stop on its side. The force of the impact led to the car rolling over.
Emergency services were called shortly before 20:55.
1 fire appliance from Ryde is on scene in the interests of safety, with an ambulance crew and operational commander checking over those involved.
The road is currently blocked in all directions. Police are present.

VW Up, is up on its side!!
More bad IW driving.
Monkton Street is another island street that is dangerous with vehicles
parked on both sides of the street making it Dangerous due to poor
visibility.
Cars shoot along there, despite no chance of seeing a small child running out until in the path of a car. There should be max 20mph there, and often I go slower.
Sadly on this Badly run Island there are no RULES
I drink and drive and what are you going to don
Bang up Drink Drivers, they are uneducated persons
Was hoping its was the t**t in the red civic driving around in circles on the strand east st n Monkton st.
How on a side street in a 30mph does this happen??
When the woman driving the van was arrested for drink driving, that’s how
I’ve come to conclusion that it’s the BFG!.. you know the part where he’s invisable to people, but is present….well i think hes out there tripping up cars with his big feet, flipping them on their roofs/ side lol thats the only explanation why sooo many cars are flipped on the IOW…
Because some drivers go too fast in order to intimidate others to give them a straight run, so they don’t have to go slower and have to negotiate the restricted space. Selfishness.
Speeding is the obvious answer, speeding is rife on the Island.
It’s either too fast or too slow here on the iow.
And don’t mention roundabouts, some drivers have absolutely no idea you give way to the right. Or is it the left, no sod it I’ll stay here for a bit oh no I went the wrong way lol.
There are videos on Youtube of people rolling cars at 5MPH
HOW? Must of been more bad driving?
“Must have been” – would you people please learn the English language!
It do no matta we the jist
We certainly keep the scrap merchants busy on this island.
I’m surprised the vw up didn’t finish being an upside dow up . But seriously glad to here nobody got seriously hurt
How long will it be before an innocent passerby is killed??
The Police and Council are fully aware of Monkton Street being used as a race course for speeding vehicles. I have been telling them to do something about it for over 40 years .
Just bad driving i was behind a car last night they pulled across the path of an on comeing car at a junction horns a blasing luckily no contact but would of been a very nasty accident…
It’s all due to bad driving which is rife on the island. I wish the drivers would read these comments and try to change their dangerous habits. Sadly I think they don’t!!
good old island driving
It’s like ‘Whacky Races’ – whats going on?
Was it anything to do with the massive sink hole? There’s even large arrows on the thing ffs! Island roads are covered from claims because they’ve already marked it
I begin to think all of your roads are dangerous as when ever there’s an accident on a main road, back street, duel carriageways, you lot say that part is really dangerous or council should lower the speed limit. It’s not the roads its just a dangerous place to drive because yourselves and I don’t mean everyone. DRIVE ON THE ROADS HOW THEY SHOULD BE SLOW THE FCUK DOWN AND BE MORE CAREFUL .Or speak to your corrupt council to put 20 mph every where.
