UPDATED: The driver of a Ford Fusion has escaped any serious injury following a rollover collision on Merstone Lane near Blackwater this afternoon (Monday).
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, Police and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are all on scene at the junction of Merstone Lane and Blackwater Road. They were alerted to the single vehicle crash at just before 13:05.
Island Echo understands the small hatchback car rolled over after making a turn, but has luckily come to rest back down on all 4 wheels.
Paramedics are checking over the occupant of the vehicle.
Merstone Lane is to remain closed whilst oil and debris is cleared from the carriageway. Southern Vectis buses are diverting locally.
UPDATE @ 14:09 – Bartletts Service Station have recovered the vehicle.
The road has now re-opened.
