UPDATED: A car has left the carriageway and gone over a bank on the main Sandown to Newport road at Blackwater this morning (Wednesday).
Emergency services are in attendance outside Wight Building Materials and are understood to be assisting the driver of a Renault Megane Scenic..
Island Echo is told that 2 other cars have been involved in a small shunt at the same location, but no one has been seriously injured.
The road has been closed in both directions. Traffic is extremely heavy in the area as a result.
UPDATE @ 10:14 – Recovery of the vehicles involved is now taking place.
UPDATE @ 11:59 – Blackwater Road has now re-opened in both directions.
