Emergency services are this afternoon attending a road traffic collision on the A3055 Park Avenue in Ventnor.
Island Echo understand a single-vehicle, driven by a woman, has collided with a flowerbed near to The Royal Hotel at the junction of Belgrave Road and Park Avenue.
Fire crews from Ventnor Fire Station are in attendance alongside Police and Ambulance crews.
UPDATE @ 20:30 – Island Echo understand that the unknown female driver suffered a suspected medical episode at the wheel and despite the best efforts of paramedics and first aiders at the scene, unfortunately, died as a result.
It is not thought the collision impact was a contributing factor in the death.
UPDATE FRIDAY: Hampshire Constabulary have this morning confirmed the death of a female in Ventnor yesterday afternoon.
The Isle of Wight Roads Policing Unit would like to thank members of the public who tried to save the woman’s life at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved and no criminal offences were identified.
